What Matters Most?

Years ago this question really began to bother me. What does matter most? Oh, yes, many believe in good deeds or in attending a church. Others believe that money is power. Some believe in evolution. People in my homeland used to believe that “He who did not steal (from the communist government) was stealing from his own family.” Others advocate the belief in self, and some take it a step further, claiming that man is his own god. Obviously, many people believe many different things. But who can decide what really matters most since everyone has his or her own opinion?

What if I live for something only to find out too late that it does not count?

When people can’t agree upon what matters most in their lives, can a god decide? And if so, which god? After reading through a variety of religious literature I could see that even religious people have no unified opinion on what matters most. Some are content with „living a good life.“ Others don’t hesitate to kill people along with themselves in order to get seventy virgins in heaven. Hmm. Even happily married men would probably agree that trying to keep seventy ladies happy is no heaven.

Now, what if the basic problem of mankind is the tendency to worship gods we have made ourselves? Certain religious literature ponders the weirdness of man: He chops down a branch. He uses one half of it for fire to cook food. He uses the other half to make a statue of a “god,” to which he bows. But that’s the distant past when man was primitive. Right?! Today we have technology, education, sophistication and science! So, instead of bowing to strange statues, we worship modern gods: Money, power, sports, career, popularity, or evolution. We work over-time to get a better car, a better home, a better vacation spot, etc. I am still not sure what matters most.

It has occurred to me that if gods are a product of our imagination, they must also be limited by our imagination. But what if, beyond gods created by men’s imagination and desires, there exists God so powerful that no-one can imagine Him?

Science is telling us that we live in a four-dimensional world. It follows then, that humans are capable of sensing only those four dimensions: three-dimensional space and time. That's what we can see and measure. But scientists have calculated that there are at least two more dimensions in the universe which we cannot see. Are there other things in other dimensions? And if so, how can we know?

If there are other dimensions, what prevents God, angels, Satan and demons to exist also in those other dimensions? Religious literature calls those unseen dimensions a spiritual world. Therefore, I can conclude that my inability to see God does not mean that He does not exist. I am just not capable to see Him in dimensions outside of our four-dimensional world. I need a spiritual body to “see” God.

In a similar fashion, while I don’t see the light waves or the sound waves beaming from a TV station to my TV, I know they exist, because I can watch movies, news, and commercials.

So, what use is God to me, whom I can’t see? According to certain religious literature, which is increasingly validated by archeological findings, God whom I can’t see made the mankind, who is comprised not only of a physical body, but also of a spiritual body. When someone says that the human body has also a soul and spirit, it could mean from a scientific viewpoint, that my physical body is only a part of my „being.“ I may also have a soul and spirit – a different body, which takes up dimensions outside of our physical world.

I found that what should interest me most is where I will spend eternity after my physical body dies. While our physical bodies are expendable, our spiritual being is not. Our spirit lives on forever. We go on living in those dimensions which our physical body can’t see.

God’s desire is that people would spend eternity with Him, and He will clothe their spirit with new Super Body, which is able to exist in more dimensions than our present body can. The other option is to spend eternity separated from our Creator, and in tremendous suffering. Because God gave us a free will, be it within the realm of His sovereignty, we must choose the way: either ours, which leads to suffering, or His, which leads to peace, love, and fulfillment.

The path to heaven is not automatic, according to God Himself. We, the sinners, must first make peace with Holy God, so that He would let us in. Ever since the first created people, Adam and Eve, mankind has continually tried to usurp the created order, seeking an “independence” from their Creator. God calls this  sin. Independence from a perfect God will not give me what many consider “freedom” anyway. As Bob Dylan once sang: “It may be the Devil, it may be the Lord, but you've got to serve somebody.”

If I refuse a relationship with God, I remain under the influence of the Evil One, because God allows him to blind, control and own everyone who refuses to obey God.  Unlike the popular belief, there is nothing neutral, the world is divided into just two camps – God’s and Devil’s. The Devil has already lost the cosmic war, he is just resisting in the few battles left – trying to destroy as many human souls as possible. If I don’t belong to God, I’m on the loosing side!!!

The Good News: (The best News of all times)! In order to escape the dominance of the Devil in our lives, God says that we must be spiritually adopted into God’s “family” – by making peace with God on His terms, not ours. Once the person is adopted into God’s family, they also need to feed their spirit. First with spiritual milk, and eventually with meat and potatoes of His Word.

Our physical body is subjected to the Second Law of Thermodynamics and will fall apart and die. However, our spiritual body will go on living forever – either in Heaven with it’s Creator or in torment in Hell.

                                    I concluded the following:

1. Science points to the Creator, and proves that the Theory of Evolution is incorrect.

2. The Creator is God. He is only one. The rest of the gods are false, powerless, created by human imagination and Devil’s deception.

3. God created mankind - body, soul and spirit and gave us a choice between good and evil.

4. Eternal life in „Heaven“ is not automatic. We need to make peace with our Maker to be let in.

I read the following in the Love-letter from the Creator to His children:

“In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. Through Him all things were created. But all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. There is no-one righteous, not even one. But God demonstrated His love for us: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Because God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have an eternal life. For by grace are you saved, through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. It is appointed for man to die once, and then judgment. I saw a Great White Throne ... and anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire… but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father" …if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you.

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things... No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him."

What matters the most then?

After careful consideration I’d like to present this conclusion: To be saved from eternal damnation and a lake of fire, and to spend the eternity with my Maker and with my loved ones. Eternal life comes by repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who with His life paid the due penalty for our sin. Then He rose from dead, to offer me peace with the Father, my Maker.

So I did choose eternity with my Creator, according to His way. But I would also like my loved ones to be with me. I pray that they will make the right choice. And what will you choose:

His Way, or yours?
